Meet BGirl Mel

BGirl Mel’s first formal dance training experiences started at Neisha’s Dance & Music Academy in 1996/97. She was a dancer in the first Club NDA Hip Hop Company, which opened doors for many opportunities to perform at high level events. Mel credits Neisha’s support in her pursuit of dance that helped her to develop skills not only on the dance floor, but the work ethics, integrity, and character it takes to be a thriving and successful dancer.

Mel is currently a Professor of Dance at Grossmont College and has an online dance program called The Confident Dancers, which provides working adults who seek basic hip hop dance training and mindset tools to develop the skills to dance confidently in social dance spaces. She also started her breaking (breakdance) journey. She currently competes and represents Bgirls on a worldwide level, sharing the message that you’re never too old and it’s never too late to pursue your dreams!
